M25 Closure Near Heathrow
Plan Your Delivery

A delivery planned for 31 October or 1 November? Check the M25 junction 15 closure, the official diversion and how to agree collection and receiving windows.

Illustrative scene of a driver checking a delivery schedule beside an unbranded yellow van parked safely at a motorway service area.

Your collection is booked, the goods will be ready and someone is expecting the van. Then you spot a closure near Heathrow. Should you change the delivery date, move the receiving slot or simply allow more time?

Start by checking whether the planned route uses the affected direction, then agree any timing changes with your carrier and the person receiving the goods. At Lucky Van, we can discuss the transport details with you; the useful starting point is a clear collection address, a delivery address and the time each site can actually receive a vehicle.

This guide explains the confirmed restriction, the official diversion and the information to gather before changing a booking. It also includes a short message you can adapt for your delivery enquiry.

Which part of the M25 closes?

Checked on 26 October 2026. National Highways’ update of 22 October schedules a closure of the M25 anticlockwise carriageway at junction 15, between the M4 slip roads, from 20:00 on Saturday 31 October until 10:00 on Sunday 1 November 2026. All times here are local to London.

The work was moved from 24–25 October because of forecast adverse weather. The clockwise carriageway and all connections between the M25 and M4 are due to remain open.

The signed diversion takes anticlockwise traffic onto the M4 westbound to junction 5, turns it at the Langley Interchange, then returns eastbound to join the M25 anticlockwise through M4 junction 4b.

National Highways warns that congestion may continue after reopening, with the interchange expected to be busiest on Sunday between 08:00 and midday. Plans can change: check the official project update and diversion map before travel. The published closure time is not a delivery arrival estimate.

Could your delivery use this route?

A destination described as “near Heathrow” is not enough to assess a delivery. Give your carrier both full postcodes and the actual loading entrances. The route depends on where the van starts, where it needs to finish and any vehicle or site restrictions.

Ask a simple question: does the proposed journey pass through the section identified in the official notice during the closure window? Let the carrier assess the route rather than assuming that every journey in west London needs to be cancelled.

For a business delivery, check whether the receiving address is the office address or a separate warehouse entrance. A postcode can lead to the public front door while goods are accepted somewhere else. A contact name, entrance description and booking reference are more useful than a general instruction to “ask when you arrive”.

If the journey has several stops, list their receiving windows separately. A flexible final handover does not resolve an earlier stop with a fixed appointment. Our scheduled delivery service provides a place to discuss the dates, access details and preferred times for your load.

Agree a workable delivery time window

Before asking for a new time, distinguish between your preferred arrival time and a genuine deadline. “Morning would be convenient” leaves room for discussion. “The loading bay booking ends at 11:00” needs a specific response from the receiving site and carrier.

Use the following checklist to decide what can move. It is a planning aid, not a prediction of traffic or a promise that a different slot will be available.

What is fixed? What to confirm
Collection appointment Whether the goods can be released earlier or on another agreed date.
Warehouse receiving slot The latest check-in time and the procedure if the van is delayed.
Home delivery handover Who can receive the items and how long they can remain available.
Loading bay or building access Whether a revised arrival needs a new reservation or site approval.
Several delivery stops Which appointments can move and who must approve a revised order.

Avoid choosing an arbitrary extra allowance and treating it as a guaranteed solution. Ask the carrier to review the proposed timing, then confirm any revised arrangement with the receiver. The collection, transport and handover all need to fit together.

Prepare the collection and receiving team

Once you have agreed a plan, make the goods ready for that plan. Pack and label the items, prepare the inventory and tell the collection contact when the load can be released. If dimensions or weights have changed since the enquiry, send the corrected details before the vehicle is confirmed.

At the destination, identify a person who can answer the phone and accept the delivery. Check the loading entrance, opening hours, unloading arrangements and any appointment reference. Share access codes privately through the agreed channel, rather than placing them in a public note.

For furniture or equipment, clarify where the transport handover ends. “Deliver to the building” can mean different things to the sender and receiver. Describe stairs, lifts, loading areas and handling needs so the scope can be agreed in advance.

If the receiving site cannot accept a later arrival, ask what alternatives it can authorise. Do not assume the driver can leave goods outside, hand them to an unnamed neighbour or arrange storage. Any change to the destination or handling needs a clear agreement.

Send one clear update to everyone

Keep the carrier, sender and receiver working from the same version of the plan. A message about a revised collection time should also explain whether the delivery window has changed and who has approved it.

You can adapt this brief:

We have a goods collection from [full address and postcode] for delivery to [full address and postcode] on [date]. The load is [item count, dimensions, weight and packaging]. Goods are ready from [time]; the receiver accepts deliveries between [times], with a latest check-in of [time]. Please review whether the announced M25 junction 15 closure affects the proposed route. Our flexible arrangements are [details]. The collection contact is [name/number] and the receiving contact is [name/number]. Please confirm the agreed timing and any change to the quote or scope.

If the delivery is already booked, include its reference. When a site approves a change, pass the confirmation on rather than leaving the driver to establish it on arrival. Keep one named contact responsible for circulating the final arrangement.

Check again before the van leaves

Use the official notice linked above for the works plan and the National Highways road closure report for planned restrictions. The carrier should review current conditions before departure; a saved screenshot from earlier in the week should not be the only reference.

On your side, confirm that the goods remain ready, the receiver is available and no site instructions have changed. If a new delay threatens a fixed appointment, contact the receiving site promptly and agree the next step with the carrier. Keep any revised instruction explicit.

For a new booking, send Lucky Van the two addresses, load details, preferred collection time and latest receiving time. Discuss your scheduled delivery so the team can review availability, vehicle suitability and the proposed arrangement before confirming the booking.
