Think a van courier job is all about traffic and time slots? Think again. Behind the wheel is a person who’s seen the unexpected, the funny, and the downright bizarre.
At Lucky Van, we’ve heard it all—and we’re spilling a few (anonymous!) stories from the road.
🚚 The Real Life of a Van Courier
Being a van courier means more than simply delivering packages. It’s a front-row seat to people’s lives, workplaces, and last-minute emergencies.
From flats in central London to remote farms in Kent, our drivers carry more than cargo—they carry stories.
😂 5 True Tales from Lucky Van Courier
1. The Birthday Surprise That Wasn’t
A courier delivered what he thought was a box of decorations—until the client opened it and screamed. It was a full-size inflatable clown meant to surprise someone… who had a clown phobia.
2. A Lorry Full of Lettuce
Yes, once we delivered 160 kilos of lettuce. It was a panic resupply for a salad shop that underestimated Veganuary.
3. The Talking Parrot Job
A van courier picked up a delivery labeled “fragile – keep upright.” The box started talking. It was a parrot that sang Bon Jovi.
4. Mid-Move Tea Break
One couple insisted the courier stop mid-job for tea and biscuits “because it’s rude not to.” He accepted. It turned into a two-hour chat about WW2.
5. The Gnome Emergency
A garden center needed urgent restocking. 340 gnomes were delivered in two trips. Our driver says he still sees them when he blinks.
